Kaye studied Illustration at the University of Wales (Gwent College of Art) and went on to work as a freelance illustrator with leading London-based illustration agency Artist Partners, on commissions for books, magazines, advertising and children's books.

Her work has appeared in local and national exhibitions and has been included in the National Portrait Gallery Portrait Award (1981, 1984 and 2010). Her work was also selected for the Daily Mail ‘Not the Turner Prize’ exhibition of figurative painting at the Mall Galleries, London, and in 2017 she was selected to take part in the Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year competition. 

Kaye is a Member of the Society of Graphic Fine Arts (SGFA), The Drawing Society. As well as exhibiting with this society, her pictures have appeared in exhibitions of the Society of Women Artists, the Society of Wildlife Artists, the Royal Society of British Artists, the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, the Gallery at Green and Stone (London), the Discerning Eye Exhibition, and the Mid Wales Arts Centre.

She has worked on mural projects in hospitals, schools, sports clubs and private homes in England, and in 2002 worked with theatre designer Will Bowen on sets for a production of Peter Pan at the Royal Festival Hall, London. 

Kaye taught art at Cranbrook School (Kent) but now lives and works in the Mid Wales countryside, focusing on portraiture.
